Every Soldier remembers their first team, and for me, these were the men who got me through my first deployment in 2004.
We were all young, filled with anticipation and uncertainty, as we listened to "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns N' Roses while crossing into the border of Iraq in early March.
Despite the chaos of combat; firefights, IEDs, and the relentless grind of daily patrols, we always stuck together. It's in those moments that you truly learn about yourself. The most valuable lesson I learned was the importance of leaning on the comrades beside you.
But what truly carried me through was the unbreakable brotherhood forged in battle. It's a bond that transcends time and distance, connecting us as brothers for life.
